John Edwards (1742-1815) was an English botanist, painter, designer, and illustrator, known for his diverse contributions to the arts and sciences. He is particularly noted for his serial publication, "The British Herbal," which showcased his skills as both a botanist and an illustrator. Edwards' work was exhibited at the Royal Academy and at the Society of Artists, reflecting his recognition within the artistic community. In addition to his botanical illustrations, Edwards was also a designer for the textile industry, demonstrating his versatility and creativity. Despite his death in 1815, Edwards' work continues to be appreciated for its artistic and scientific value.
