Peter Behrens (1868-1940) was a German architect, graphic and industrial designer, recognized for his significant role in the development of modern architecture and industrial design. Born in Hamburg, he attended the fine arts school there before moving to Munich during the renaissance of arts and crafts in Germany. Behrens' career was marked by his tenure as artistic adviser for AEG (Allgemeine Elektricitäts Gesellschaft), where he influenced the design of products and architecture, integrating art with industry. He also mentored future architectural masters such as Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Le Corbusier. His architectural works include the Mannesmann-Werke in Düsseldorf and the German embassy in St. Petersburg, showcasing his range from industrial to classical styles.
