Product Details

Georges de Feure, born Georges Joseph van Sluijters on September 6, 1868, in Paris, was a prominent French artist known for his work in symbolism and Art Nouveau. He was the son of an affluent Dutch architect and a Belgian mother. De Feure made his mark as a painter, theatrical designer, and industrial art designer. After spending time active in Amsterdam from 1886 to 1889, he returned to Paris and studied under Jules Cheret, adopting his professional name. His innovative approach in poster designs and illustrations drew the attention of influential figures like Siegfried Bing. De Feure's versatility and originality made him a key representative of the fin de siècle, the end of the 19th century. Despite his success, he passed away in poverty in Paris on November 26, 1943.
