Joseph Gibbons Richardson (1836-1886) was a notable medical scientist\pathologist in the 19th century. A portrait of him, painted by Matthew Wilson between 1860 and 1886, is held in the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, indicating his significance during his lifetime. Although information about his life is sparce, his published work in medical journals at the time continue to be referenced today.
