Made by R.J Killick, this artwork was an advertisement for Robert Hamilton Tobacco in 1887. The company was located at 119 State Street in Detroit and was known for being the largest cigar factory under one roof in the world at one point. Robert Hamilton and his brother John Brown founded the company, and were known for their cigar brands, including Newsboys, Cremo, Fontella, Carmencita, Evangeline, and Detroit Free Press. Although there isn't much known about R.J. Killick's life, the artwork and advertisements he made through the Brown Brothers Tobacco Company remains significant in the history of the tobacco industry.
