Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance, celebrated for his profound impact on art and science. Born in Anchiano, near Vinci, he was trained in Florence as a painter and sculptor in the workshop of Andrea del Verrocchio. His insatiable curiosity and innovative mind led him to make significant contributions in various fields, including engineering, anatomy, and architecture. His masterpieces, such as "The Last Supper" and "Mona Lisa," are among the most renowned and influential works of the Renaissance. Despite the relatively small number of works he completed, Leonardo's extensive notebooks reveal his scientific inquiries and mechanical inventiveness, embodying the Renaissance humanist ideal.
