Product Details

Thomas E. Hill was an American author known for producing a variety of reference books for the general public, which contained diverse facts and figures. His works include "Hill's Album of Biography and Art," which contains portraits and sketches of prominent figures, and "Hill's Manual of Social and Business Forms," a guide to correct writing that was regarded as the pre-eminent etiquette book of its time. In addition to his writing, Hill served as a teacher, newspaper publisher, and public servant, including two terms as mayor of Aurora. He moved to Glen Ellyn in 1885, where he brought a new level of sophistication to the town and was instrumental in its development, including the creation of a beautiful 50-acre lake to attract residents seeking to escape the clamor of Chicago.
