Louis Rhead (1857-1926) was a prominent and influential artist known for his work at the crossroads of the Anglo-Saxon Arts and Crafts movement and French Art Nouveau. Born in Staffordshire, England, Rhead studied at the National Art Training School in London and in Paris with Gustave-Rodolphe-Clarence Boulanger. His work spans a variety of mediums and styles, including poster art, book illustration, and ceramics. Rhead's distinctive style, characterized by its bold colors and dynamic compositions, made him a significant figure in the development of American poster art. Despite his death in 1926, Rhead's work continues to be appreciated for its artistic value and its contribution to the visual culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
