Emile-Allain Séguy, professionally known as E.A. Séguy, was a French designer and artist active during the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements of the 1920s. Born in 1877, he studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris and became one of the major influential artists of the Art Deco period. Séguy was known for his patterns and textiles inspired by the natural world, particularly insects and butterflies, which he vividly illustrated in his popular books "Papillons" and "Insectes". His work often combined both Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, and he produced 11 albums of illustrations, most of them focusing on elements from the natural world. Séguy's prints were produced using a technique called pochoir, a labor-intensive and precise practice of layering stencils on top of one another to create depth.
